Background and History

Child Rights Development Foundation is a registered as Non-Governmental Organization founded in 2000.

It is an all-inclusive organization established to respond to the needs of Children who are actively involved in a number of charitable activities such as supporting sustainable livelihood projects, for orphans and other vulnerable children OVC, Creating awareness on Oil and Gas, Protection and promotion of Land Rights.

CRIDEF Core Program areas of Intervention

Health
Under the Health component, CRIDEF’s key interventions include; HIV/AIDS prevention and care, psychosocial support, Water, sanitation and Hygiene programs. The interventions target mainly Most at Risk Populations (MARPS), Key Populations (KP) and youth in and out of schools.
Education & Child Protection
CRIDE Forks to improve the access, retention and quality of education for primary schools going children. These targets out of school OVC are targeted for Artisan apprenticeship, administering a vocational training and school sponsorship program and promoting Art and design in both at school and out of school youth.
Socio Economic Empowerment
Orphans and other Vulnerable Children (OVC) and their care givers fore empowerment through village savings and loan associations (VSLA’s) cluster of OVC caregivers are facilitated to form and manage VSLA’s for improving women’s lives. VSLA Groups/Clusters are offered training in business management skills. This program provides some financial services for the poorest rural households that may not be in position to access micro finance services
Income and food Security and Nutrition
The key intervention includes sustainable farming package that include establishment of kitchen garden, farmer field schools, food multiplication scheme and seed fair scheme.

  • Geographical Scope of Operation.

    CRIDEF operates in Buliisa, Masindi, Kiryandongo, Kibaale and Hoima Districts found in – Albertine region Uganda.

  • The Team at CRIDEF

    CRIDEF has a well-established 8staff qualified and experienced professionals who are able to completely oversee and implement multi-sectoral programs. Currently they build capacity and supervise 5 full time community based Trainers (CBT’s) who are given specialized technical support in order for them to be able to implement the activities.

  • Our Partnerships, Networks, Collaborations

    CRIDEF works in partnership with the following;

    1. Line Government ministries e.g. Ministry of Gender labour and social Development
    2. Education, Health.
    3. Local Government structures at District level.eg CRIDEF signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the office the District Community Development Officer.
    4. Communities up to parish level.
